I am not a practitioner of feng shui, however I do believe in one of it's guiding principles: CLEAR THE CLUTTER! 

Feng shui regards the home (or place of business) as a living body, and as such, it's tenets urge you to keep the pathways or arteries clear.  As a Realtor, I can't agree more.  A guest to your home (potentially, a Buyer) will be more apt to look at the attributes of your living spaces if they aren't hidden under kid's toys, old newspapers, and dirty clothing.  When preparing for a sale, try to look at your home through other's eyes.  If this is difficult, ask a friend that isn't shy about telling you the truth.  Clearing the clutter may seem like a daunting task, but you will reap the rewards in a higher selling price, and it's very freeing when you get to the packing and moving stage of the process.
